The reverse cycle that came with the house.

The outdoor unit has been getting louder for a while. The bedroom takes longer to cool than it used to, and longer to warm in winter. Power bills are creeping up even though nothing about how you run it has changed. The system’s still going, just not the way it once did. Or it’s already given up, and you’ve been ringing installers for a week.

A reverse cycle ducted system lasts somewhere between 10 and 15 years. The good ones go a bit longer, usually with a warranty repair or two along the way. After year 10 we don’t recommend throwing good money at expensive repairs. The maths starts to look like keeping an old car alive: a new compressor this year, a controller board next year, a fan motor the year after, and you’ve spent the price of a new system on a system whose other parts are still ageing and out of warranty.

The smarter version of this decision is the planned one. Made in May, before the November queue forms. Finance approved at zero interest. Install booked at your convenience, in the week of your choice, with the calendar still loose. The other version is the call you make in late November after the unit dies, when every installer in Perth is six weeks out and the heat is already in the bedroom. Both versions end up at the same conversation. One is more comfortable.

Two ways to replace it.

The right path depends on the condition of what’s already in the ceiling. If the existing ducting and zoning are in good shape, you only need to replace the units. If they’re not, you replace everything. We tell you which one applies on the day, even when it costs us the bigger sale.

Ends 30 June 2026.Loading…
Option 1 · Unit-only changeover
$5.49
per day · $9,999 fixed · 60 mo · 0%

Replace the units, keep the ducting.

What’s included
  • 16kW Hisense indoor unit, fitted to existing duct connections
  • 16kW Hisense outdoor compressor unit
  • New interconnecting pipe and cables between indoor and outdoor
  • Basic wall controller, wired in and tested
  • Removal and disposal of the old units
  • Existing ductwork, zoning and outlets all stay
When this is the right call. Existing ducting is in good shape (post-2015 installs, usually). Zone wiring still works. You want the cheapest path back to working reverse cycle.
Claim unit-only at $9,999 (free assessment)
Option 2 · Full system replacement
$7.97
per day · $14,499 fixed · 60 mo · 0%

Replace everything end to end.

What’s included
  • 16kW Hisense indoor and outdoor units
  • Brand new ducting throughout, properly sized for the system
  • 8 independent zones across 10 ceiling outlets
  • New touch controller and full zone wiring
  • Removal and disposal of the old system and ducting
  • System tested and registered for the 7-year Hisense warranty
When this is the right call. Existing ducting is old, leaking air, undersized, or the wrong shape for a modern system. You want different zoning. The original install wasn’t great.
Claim full replacement at $14,499 (free assessment)

Honest disclosure. Both prices are fixed for a standard single-storey home with good roof access on single-phase power. Two-storey, truss roof, three-phase, or tight access needs a separate quote, given in writing on or after the site visit. If you take the unit-only path and we find ducting faults at install (leaks, sagged sections, undersized runs, faulty zone motors), those need additional works on top of the $9,999, also quoted on the day.

What you actually get for $9,999 (or $14,499).

Both prices include more than just the unit swap. The bonuses below aren’t add-ons or upsells. They’re already in the install price. We’ve put dollar figures on each because once they’re stated, they’re easier to compare against what cheaper operators leave out.

The 7-and-5 Warranty Pair · $2,000Seven years on the Hisense unit, backed by the manufacturer. Five years on CrispAir’s installation workmanship. Both start on install day and run concurrently. Trade default is closer to five years on the unit and one-to-three years from whoever installed it. You’re getting two extra years on the unit and at least two extra on the workmanship.
60-Month 0% Interest · $2,200 unit-only / $3,200 fullHisense’s Better Air promotion pays the interest on your behalf. At standard Humm90 rates of about 7% over 60 months, that’s roughly $2,200 of interest you don’t pay on the unit-only path, or $3,200 on the full replacement. The total you pay is the install price, divided by 60.
The Honest Option Recommendation · includedOn the site visit, we tell you whether your existing ducting holds up for a unit-only swap, or whether it’s gone past that. Plenty of operators push the bigger sale by default because the margin’s bigger. We don’t. If unit-only fits, we quote unit-only.
The Old-System Disposal Service · $200Old indoor unit, outdoor compressor, and (where applicable) ductwork removed and disposed of responsibly. Refrigerant recovered to Australian Standards. You don’t lift a finger or pay tip fees.
First-Year Membership Included · $299At install we enrol you into CrispAir’s annual service membership for the first 12 months. Normally $299 per year per system. Membership includes a scheduled service visit (filter clean, refrigerant check, controller schedule review, coil clean), priority booking when something needs attention, and member rates on any follow-up work. The quieter benefit is the inspection itself: small abnormalities caught during routine service while they’re still inside the 7-year Hisense warranty are claimable, not out-of-pocket. The membership effectively keeps the warranty alive.
The No-Mess Promise · $250Drop sheets down, vacuum each evening, packaging leaves with our van. If we leave any rubbish behind, we’ll return and collect it.

The maths on the stack.

Unit-only path. Stacked value: $4,949. You pay $9,999. The stacked value is built into the install price, not added on top.

Full replacement path. Stacked value: $5,949. You pay $14,499. Same logic.

Two guarantees on the install.

Risk reversal in plain English. If something on our side goes wrong, here’s exactly what happens.

The Fixed-Schedule Guarantee.

Once we book your install date, it’s locked. If we have to change that date for any reason on our side, we credit you $100 to your account. No questions, no haggling.

The Better-Than-Old Promise.

If thirty days after install your new Hisense system isn’t quieter, more efficient, and faster to bring rooms to temperature than the old one was, you tell us. We get one chance to fix it.

If after that you’re still not satisfied, we uninstall the system at no charge and refund the install fee in full. The unit comes back to CrispAir.

How this goes once you fill in the form.

1
Free in-home assessment

Someone from CrispAir comes to the house, inspects the existing system, gets up in the roof, checks the ductwork, and tells you whether Option 1 or Option 2 is the honest answer for your home. If the units are still alive, we test them. If they’re dead, we measure for the new install.

2
Apply when the design is right

Better Air’s application via Humm90 takes about 10 minutes if you verify income through online bank statements. Decision the same day. If you’d rather know you’re approved before any home visit, we can send the application link first.

3
Installed on a date that suits you

A unit-only changeover usually takes half a day or less: old units off, new units fitted, pipe and cables run, controller tested. A full replacement is usually one day on site: old ducting and system out in the morning, new system in and tested by end of day. Either can need a second visit if an electrician needs to come for power work, or for unusually large homes.

Two ways to start, both unhurried.

Want to know the maths works for your household before anyone visits the house? Ask Better Air for a pre-approval via Humm90. Ten minutes online. Once you’re approved, you know the monthly payment you’d be working with before any conversation about ductwork or controllers.

Already know you can afford it? Skip the maths and book the assessment. Someone from CrispAir will come around, get up in the roof, and tell you which option fits your home.

Both are free. Neither commits you to anything.

What our customers say.

★★★★★
“From the moment I called and dealt with Sam P I knew I was in good hands. Guided me through the options that were available to us to improve what we currently had. The whole interaction was seamless from that first call to the installation. We love our new air conditioners, not only are they stylish but so quiet.”
Ainslie · Claremont · Google review
★★★★★
“Cannot recommend this company enough. From the quote to the installation of my reverse cycle ducted air conditioning, their service was exceptional. Communication and efficiency met all expectations as a customer. The whole installation team was clean, tidy, on time and respectful of the space they were working in. A special mention to Chris the refrigeration engineer for his knowledge and outstanding service and Luke for organising this installation and going above and beyond for me to get this installed quickly in the middle of summer. If I could give more starts I would.”
Emma · Southern River · Google review
★★★★★
“We have had our fully ducted system in for just over a year now with no issues whatsoever. Since our new Daikin system was installed just before Christmas 2024 we have been enjoying the greatest comfort, even on the hottest days. Every aspect of our experience with CrispAir, from the initial inquiries through to today’s service and checkup has been first class. Best decision we ever made.”

Why replace it before next summer, not during.

Why you should have it replaced now, before winter or the build-up to Christmas and summer
Late May, June and early July are the cleanest weeks to book a planned replacement. The cold is still ahead, so you want it heating reliably before July and August properly land. After that, the build-up to Christmas hits the diary from September onwards, and from late October every install slot fills with people whose old systems just died. The crews have room now. They don’t in November.
You replace when you’re not under pressure
A planned replacement is a conversation. A panic replacement is a decision made in 30 minutes with the bedroom at 32 degrees and the kids upset. The version of you that picks the system when nothing is broken is a better customer than the version that picks it when everything is.
The 0% finance offer doesn’t last forever
Hisense pays Better Air to take the interest off the buyer’s side. That promotion runs while Hisense wants the volume. It doesn’t run indefinitely. Locking in today’s offer at today’s terms is the cheapest part of the decision.

Why CrispAir.

Perth-based since 1986Forty years installing aircon in Perth homes. The estimator who turns up has done your suburb a thousand times and has been in plenty of roof spaces with ducting older than they look.
We don’t push the bigger saleIf the cheaper changeover does the job, that’s what we quote. The bigger margin isn’t the default here.
Fixed price, written in advanceCowboys quote $9,999 on a flyer and find $3,000 of extras once they’ve got the deposit. We give you the real number in writing on or after the site visit, before any deposit changes hands.
Seven years on the unit, five years on the installHisense covers the registered system for 7 years. CrispAir’s workmanship warranty covers the install itself for 5.

Two reasons to book the assessment this month.

1. The 0% interest promotion ends 30 June 2026.

After that, finance reverts to standard Humm90 rates of about 7% per annum. On a $14,499 install over 60 months, that’s roughly $3,200 in interest the promotion saves you.

2. The install diary fills through November and December.

Summer breakdown calls take priority, and planned-replacement bookings made in those months get pushed past Christmas into January. Book between now and October and you pick the install date. After that, the calendar picks for you.

Tell us a bit about the existing system and a time that works. Someone from CrispAir will turn up, get up in the roof, and come back to the kitchen table with the honest answer on which option suits your home and a fixed-price quote.

The questions replacement buyers ask.

How do I know if I need a unit-only changeover or a full system replacement?
It comes down to the condition of your existing ductwork, zoning, and outlets. Most reverse cycle installed before 2010 was undersized for the system and the ducting often leaks more air than it delivers; those homes are usually full replacement. Most installs post-2015 used properly sized ducting and the zone wiring still works, so a unit-only changeover is the right call. We assess the ductwork on the day and give you the honest recommendation, even if it costs us the bigger sale.
Is the $9,999 or $14,499 really fixed, or will extras appear during install?
Both prices are fixed in writing for the standard spec on this page: a 16kW Hisense reverse-cycle system, installed in a single-storey home with good roof access. If your home is two-storey, has a truss roof, sits on a tight lot, or needs work outside the standard scope, we tell you on or after the site visit, before any deposit. There are no “while we’re here” surprises mid-install.
What if my reverse cycle is broken right now and I need it replaced this week?
Call us on (08) 9240 1817 rather than filling in the form. If your system is verified dead and you need it replaced fast, we’ll prioritise an assessment and a same-week install where the calendar allows. The price doesn’t change for urgency, only the booking window does.
How does the 0% interest finance work?
It’s Better Air finance, run in partnership with Humm90. Hisense pays the interest in your place. Five years, 60 monthly direct debits: $166.65/month for the unit-only option, or $241.65/month for the full replacement. The total you pay is the system price. Standard credit check applies. If you want to know you’re approved for finance before we do a site visit, we can send you the Humm90 application link. Ten minutes online and you’ll have your answer.
What if my existing ducting is partly OK and partly not?
That’s common. The main trunk runs are usually fine but one or two branches to outlying bedrooms have degraded over time. We can do a unit-only changeover plus selective ductwork repair, quoted separately on top of the $9,999 base. We tell you exactly which sections we’d replace and which we’d leave on the day.
How long does the install actually take?
A unit-only changeover usually takes half a day or less on site. A full system replacement, including the new ductwork, is usually one day. Either job can need a second visit if an electrician needs to come for power work, or if the house is unusually large.
What’s the warranty on the new system?
Seven years on the registered Hisense system, plus a 5-year workmanship warranty from CrispAir on the install itself. We register the Hisense with you on the day.
Can you do the install before next summer or winter?
If you book in autumn or early winter, yes. The calendar has room for planned replacements through May to August. If you wait until late November or late June when everyone in Perth suddenly remembers their old system, you join the queue. The price doesn’t change, the install date does.
